BJP MPs Sarangi and Rajput Discharged After Parliament Scuffle, FIR Filed Against Rahul Gandhi

On December 19, 2024, a scuffle broke out in the Indian Parliament between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs and opposition lawmakers, leading to injuries to two BJP MPs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput. Both MPs were hospitalized with head injuries and other health complications. Pratap Sarangi, who is also a cardiac patient, had to be monitored for swelling and bruising on his cheekbone, with an X-ray planned to check for a fracture. Mukesh Rajput's blood pressure remained high during his hospital stay.

The scuffle occurred during a protest, and Pratap Sarangi accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing another MP who fell on him, causing his injuries. Union minister Smriti Irani criticized Rahul Gandhi, calling him a "bouncer" and blaming him for the injuries to the BJP MPs.
Following the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called both injured MPs to express his concern and support. After receiving medical treatment, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were discharged from the hospital on December 20, 2024. The BJP MPs also announced their intention to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Rahul Gandhi, alleging assault.
