The Chicago White Sox have recently made a significant trade involving left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet. Crochet, who had a standout season with a 6-12 record, a 3.58 ERA, and 209 strikeouts in 146 innings, was traded to the Boston Red Sox. This trade was finalized during the winter meetings and marks the second time in less than a year that the White Sox have traded a top-line starter, following the deal of Dylan Cease to the San Diego Padres in March.In exchange for Crochet, the White Sox received four prospects from the Red Sox:
Catcher Kyle Teel: Rated as the No. 4 prospect in the Red Sox system, Teel had a combined .288/.386/.433 slash line with 13 home runs and 78 RBIs for Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester in 2024. He was a first-round draft pick in 2023 (No. 14 overall) and has a .301/.404/.444 slash line with 15 home runs and 100 RBIs in two minor-league seasons.

Outfielder Braden Montgomery: The No. 5 prospect in the Red Sox system, Montgomery had a .322 average with 27 home runs and 85 RBIs in 61 games for Texas A&M in 2024. He was selected in the first round of the 2024 draft with the No. 12 pick.
Infielder Chase Meidroth: Rated as the No. 11 prospect, Meidroth posted a .293/.437/.400 slash line with 20 doubles, seven home runs, 57 RBIs, and 105 walks in 122 games for Worcester in 2024. He has a career slash line of .285/.425/.408 with 44 doubles, 20 home runs, 129 RBIs, and 199 walks in 255 games over three minor-league seasons.
Right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez: The No. 14 prospect, Gonzalez went 4-3 with a 4.37 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 24 outings for Portland in 2024. He has a career record of 21-15 with a 3.97 ERA and 491 strikeouts in 100 appearances.
